Back in NYC, recording...

...Keri's gorgeous song..."ooh-oh" and making final mixes (or at least final until somebody says they're not)for her new CD. We are coming back here 11/11 to play a private showcase for Epic records and 11/14 a showcase for all the Big Shooters, giving 'em a lissen to Keri's new stuff........

We recorded yesterday at Clinton Studios, a famous NYC joint where Miles Davis recorded, and more importantly to me, a music non-snob, it is also where Steely Dan recorded their last album. Keri is no big Steely Dan fan, but she puts up with me cranking it in the car, as I sing along and let the world know that I am NEVER going back to my old school......

Our band yesterday was Rob Arthur, Rich Mercurio, John Conte, Keri, and me, and Rob and John played at Robert Downey Jr.'s wedding a few weeks ago. A band of NYC hot-shots was put togther for the reception, and the big news is that John and Rob played "Fields of Gold" and "Every Breath you Take" with Sting! The band, with Rob serving as ersatz music director, played the songs and Sting came up and sang.......At the end of "Breath", he motioned to John and Rob to join him singing, and they apparently stepped up and rocked it as the crowd evaporated into a frenzy. I mused yesterday on the idea of, when Sting motioned them forward, Rob would yell back " &%$# you, Gordie" and stay where he was, my typical pondering of the consequences of inappropriate behavior at opportune moments. John was considering yesterday if he should now add to his resume that he had "played with Sting". I suggested he could reasonably say that he was "in Sting's band", as he was, for only a moment at a wedding, but hey, details are to be used thoughtfully, are they not?

There apparently are only about 80 seats left for the Keri and jeff Xmas show, so those of you that live within striking distance and want to make the scene, log onto kerinoble.com and go to the schedule page and get tix, I'd say you have about a week.........

I might sneak a new keri track on this site as a reward for you loyal faithful that worm your way down here........stay tuned......
